The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Endowments, Call and Guidance is set to launch a series of 20 meetings Tuesday at its Riyadh branch to demonstrate methods to handle extremism and achieve intellectual security. Sheikh Abdul Aziz Bin Abdullah Aal Al-Sheikh, Chairman of the Permanent Committee for Religious Research and Ifta, will address the inaugural session, said Abdullah Bin Muflih Aal Hamid, director of the Riyadh branch of the ministry. Khateebs, ulema and students of religion will also take part in the programs, he added. Aal Hamid said the issue of “The Friday sermon and its importance in achieving moderation and intellectual security” will be the main topic of the program. The topic will define the role of khateebs, those who deliver Friday sermons, and the importance of the Friday sermon in achieving moderation and intellectual security among worshippers. It also serves as a guideline for imams and khateebs regarding the importance of citizenship and intellectual security and the important role they play in those regards.
