The Saudi Food and Drug Authority has closed nine medicine warehouses in Riyadh. The decision was based on the findings of field inspectors who tour drug warehouses to ensure that pharmaceutical products are safely stored, licensed warehouses comply with regulations and that warehouses have licenses. In Riyadh, SFDA inspectors found that 12 percent of the licensed warehouses were not engaged in their licensed activities and nine percent were moved outside their specified areas without the knowledge of the authorities.
