A man from Taif who claimed to be a lawyer is facing prosecution after he established illicit relationships with women and blackmailed them, authorities said. The Bureau of Investigation and Prosecution is making arrangements against the man in his 50s who made his victims, including divorcees and widows, believe he would restore their rights at no cost and only for the sake of Allah, according to authorities. The fake lawyer set up an office where he met his victims in seclusion and asked for information he needed to restore their rights, but he established illicit relations with the women and took their pictures, which he used to blackmail them, according to authorities. The man was caught when the Commission for Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice (the Hai'a) became aware of his activities and set a trap to catch him, authorities said.
