Kia Motors Jordan hosted recently a celebration for its “Charity and Care Fund” contributors under the patronage of the Minister of Social Development Hala Lattouf that brought together representatives from Kia's regional distributors who contributed to the Fund. The founding distributors of the Kia Motors Middle East & Africa Region “Charity and Care Fund” donated $215,000 for the education of 85 orphaned students cared for under Al-Aman Fund for the Future of Orphans. The initiative came in response to the call made by Queen Rania Al Abdullah through the “If Only with 1 JD” campaign which aims to secure much-needed support for orphans and to help them acquire either a university education or vocational training. Laith Al-Qassem, chairman of the Board of Al-Aman Fund; Dr. Ahmad Atiqa, a member of the Board of Al-Aman Fund; Mrs. Maha Al Saqqa CEO of Al-Aman Fund; Y.K. Park, president of Kia Motors Middle East & Africa Region; and Steve Lee, General Manager of Kia Motor Middle East & Africa, took part in the celebration held at the Royal Automobile Museum. Park expressed great joy that the fund is providing support to Jordan and contributing to orphan welfare in the Kingdom. “We continually strive to play an active role in our local communities,” said Park, “and to help habilitate the youth, which constitute the pillars and foundations of any society. Jordan is no exception and our gathering here today for this banquet shows the solid relations we share with the Kingdom.” In addition to covering their education expenses, the fund will also cover the living expenses of all 85 students targeted in the initiative. The Kia Motors Middle East & Africa Region Charity and Care Fund was founded in late 2008 with the objective of providing support to governmental and non-governmental organizations operating in the region. The funds for this year's initiative came from many of Kia's dealers, including Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, UAE, Iraq, Iran, Egypt, Lebanon, Libya, South Africa, Jordan, Qatar, Tunisia and Eretria. The fund allocates its assets to a certain cause every year and chose to support the orphans of Jordan in 2010. Kia is also working on launching similar charity programs in Saudi Arabia and other GCC countries, Kia, founded in 1944, is Korea's oldest manufacturer of motor vehicles.
