Publishing Islamic literature in English language is of utmost importance, said Sheikh Saleh Bin Abdulaziz Aal Al-Sheikh, Minister of Islamic Affairs, Endowment, Call and Guidance. The minister's comments came during his visit to Darussalam International Publishing and Distribution Company here, Friday. Abdul Malik Mujahid, Darussalam CEO, took the minister on a tour of various sections of the publishing house established in 1992. “There is no doubt that the world has become a global village and Muslims living in America, Europe, South Asia, as well as other countries are in need of Islamic books,” Al- Sheikh said. “That is why we appreciate the works done by Darussalam in this regard,” he said adding that the publishing house has been offering Islamic literature to the people living in various parts of the world. The minister said Darussalam has been offering children with Islamic knowledge through publishing books in English language. “The publishing house has been working on some crucial projects because of their importance in schools and in Islamic literature,” he said. Darussalam, he said, has already been working on a project to publish Islamic books in Chinese language. “With Allah's Will, Islamic literature in Chinese language should be available in the near future,” he said. Since its establishment, Darussalam has published about 1,000 titles in 28 international languages. “I would specifically like to mention Darussalam's well established research department. I am also happy to see Darussalam, an international publishing house printing books on Hadith, the Qur'an along with its interpretation and other Islamic books for men, women, and children,” the minister said. “We at the ministry benefit from the works of this publishing house that has been disseminating authentic minhaj (way) in various world languages. The purpose of my visit today is to recognize Darussalam works,” he said. Darussalam has embarked on publishing Islamic books full of knowledge in various languages such as Arabic, English, French, Urdu and a number of other international languages, he said. “We expect Darussalam continue to distribute their published books in the world,” the minister said.
