A monthly power bill amounting P80,000 triggered a raid on a three-story building that was found to be housing a methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu) laboratory in Quezon City. The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and Quezon City police raided the building after getting a tip from its owner, Radio dzBB reported Saturday. But the lawmen failed to arrest the tenant, initially identified as one Santos Wong. Quezon City police director Chief Superintendent Benjardi Mantele said they conducted surveillance on the building in Bagbag village in Quezon City, after getting a tip from its owner Cesar Viray. Viray said he became suspicious of the activities of Wong, who rented the building for P70,000 a month starting Aug. 1, after seeing an electricity bill of P80,000. The report quoted Viray as saying he was surprised to see “questionable” paraphernalia in the building.
