Dr. E.K. Mohammed Shaffe, Principal and head of the institution of International Indian School, Dammam (IISD) has bagged the national-level ‘best teacher award' for the year 2009. The award was given by President Prathiba Patil at a function in New Delhi recently. A felicitation program to honor Dr. Shaffe will be held at the IISD (Boys' section) on Saturday. Dr. Shaffe is in the profession for the last 35 years and for over two decades he has been associated with many schools in the Mideast. Dr. Shaffe has a doctorate degree in education from Washington International University. Talking to Saudi Gazette, Dr. Shaffe said he was thrilled to receive such a prestigious award which is indeed a recognition by the country for his educational efforts. He has been an educator all through his career and many have benefited from his vast knowledge in the educational field. Dr. Shaffe has Master's degree in economics from Kerala University. He has held senior academic and administrative posts in various Central Board of Secondary Education-affiliated schools in India and in the Gulf countries. Dr Shaffe's wife, Suphia M.A., is also a teacher. They have s three daughters.
