Medical examination will no longer be required for most Saudi students, including students, who plan to stay in Canada for more than six months, the Canadian embassy announced here this week. “I am very pleased with this decision,” David Chatterson, Ambassador of Canada to the Kingdom, said according to a press release issued by the embassy. “This follows the announcement in May that Saudi nationals can be issued a multiple entry Temporary Resident Visa for Canada for up to five years,” the ambassador was quoted as saying. While most long-term students will no longer be required to have medical tests, examinations are still required for those working in the health sciences field or with children. There are now over 12,000 Saudi students in Canada, of which approximately 800 are medical doctors undertaking advanced studies and residencies. Information on how to apply for a visa can be found on the Canadian Embassy website at www.saudiarabia.gc.ca.
