Beirut summit (2002). The Beirut summit of Arab government leaders took place in March 2002 under the aegis of the Arab League. The summit concluded by presenting the Arab Peace Plan. The plan was proposed by then-Crown Prince, King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia. It attempts to end the Arab-Israeli conflict, which means normalizing relations between the entire Arab region and Israel, in exchange for a complete withdrawal from the occupied territories and a just settlement of refugees. __
