Etihad Etisalat (Mobily) won a contract to execute an exploratory project for the Communications and Information Technology Commission's Comprehensive Service Fund. Mobily was the only contender to have passed all evaluation criteria to win the contract. The contract was signed in Riyadh on Sunday by CITC Governor and fund chief executive Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Jaafari, and Mobily's CEO Engineer Khalid Al Kaf. The project aims to provide voice and broadband internet connectivity to the residents of the districts of Khulais and Al-Kamel in the Makkah Region, and the district of Mahd Al-Dhahab in the Madina Region. Mobily is expected to carry out the project at a cost of SR50 million. “We are working to implement the directions of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz about carrying out comprehensive development throughout the Kingdom, with a long-term strategic outlook for the Kingdom's economy,” said Jaafari. “We want to play our part in achieving balanced, sustainable development and bridge the developmental gaps between regions.” CEO Kaf said that Mobily will draw upon all of its resources and expertise to serve the residents of the areas the project will cover. “Of course, the fact that we own the region's biggest broadband network will definitely help in providing quality services to remote areas, so as we can enrich the lives of their dwellers with services that exceed their expectations,” said Kaf. Mobily enjoys a solid infrastructure, part of which is 12,000 kilometers of fiber optics - all of which helps the company provide the best, most reliable services to individuals and businesses.
