Balad Municipality here have closed down 48 shops and warned owners of 205 shops for violating health and safety measures. Mohammad Shatwan, head of the Al-Balad Municipality, said the inspection teams visited 1,035 markets during the past month to ensure people's safety and health. He also added that buildings inspection teams detected 19 different violations and necessary actions were taken against their owners. “Seven shops were found to be violating hygienic conditions,” Al-Shatwan said. Inspection tours will continue to detect violations, he said. His department, he said, this month issued 377 shop licenses.
