Some of the Kingdom's top and most promising artists had their work on display at the House of Art in Jamjoom Center at the weekend. The exhibition was entitled “Through the Eyes of an Artist” and included the work of Mohammed Ghabra, Ahmed Gaish, Ziyad Fawad Salama and Nabil Tahir. The exhibition was inaugurated by Abdu Khaliq, the famous Saudi writer, who was also the guest of honor. “The main aim behind organizing this art exhibition is to let new Saudi artists introduce their work, and to let the world know that Saudi Arabia is full of artistic talent. Despite what some people may think, Saudi Arabia has a great many talented artists,” said Tahir, a sculptor. “We decided to bring new artists and new techniques of art into the light. After Ramadan this exhibition will go on an international tour. We will first take it to the Philippines and then after Haj to Lebanon.” Salama expresses his feelings for his culture and traditions through his art. “We are forgetting our values, culture and traditions, so through my paintings I want people to remember who we are.” Gaish, a new artist, also has some of his work focused on Saudi culture and traditions. “Art and culture has progressed substantially in the Kingdom, with many international schools teaching students, but the problem is that our artists do not have enough exposure to display their talent. This exhibition gives us the chance to show the public various styles, including abstract art and realism,” said Khaliq. Sami Al–Dosary, artist and teacher of the Realism Studio Group Zakharef Al-Asr and the House of Art, said the exhibition has a number of different styles on display.
