Abdulaziz Bin Mohammed Bin Nasser Al-Tuwaijri has been appointed new president of the Saudi Ports Authority. A Royal Decree to that effect was issued here Friday by King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. Al-Tuwaijri, to hold an excellent rank, replaces Dr. Khaled Bin Ahmed Bin Abdulrahman Bubshait, who has been relieved from his post, the decree said. Al-Tuwaijri has been a member of the Shoura Council since 2005 and chairman of the council's transport, communications and information technology committee. He has also led many delegations from the council to various international conferences. He had worked as undersecretary for planning at the Ministry of Transport before joining the council. Dr. Bubshait was appointed Saudi Ports Authority's chief in 2007. Prior to this appointment, he was a member of the Shoura Council. He started his career at King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals and was a Professor of Project/Operations Management at KFUPM. He was also a former director of the Economic and Management Center at the Research Institute at KFUPM. The new ports chief has the huge responsibility of solving the many problems currently troubling the maritime sector in the Kingdom and helping it handle the increasing needs of a world that is fast recovering from the global economic crisis.
