The management service provider at King Abdul Aziz International Airport (KAAIA) has started a number of training programs for the benefit of the airport and its employees. The training sessions and courses are part of a cooperation agreement between the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), KAAIA and Frankfurt Airport (Fraport). The program basically aims to ensure that top positions at the airport will be taken up by young talented staff members who are being trained at Frankfurt Airport in Germany for three to six months. They are working on individual projects and are receiving general management training. Ten trainees who have recently returned received certificates recognizing their achievements at a press conference at KAAIA on Tuesday. The event was attended by Mazen Khashoggi, Director General of KAAIA and Jan C. Laufs, Managing Director of Fraport. This group is the second one sent to Fraport. Other trainees completed the program last year and are working at KAAIA. The next group of 10 young KAAIA employees is scheduled to leave Jeddah for Frankfurt next month. “We are committed to the highest standards at KAAIA and the ten graduates of the Young Professionals training program were selected for their high potential to hold leading positions in the management of the airport. We are all very pleased with the progress they have shown as a result of their training in Frankfurt and I thank GACA and Fraport for their support and cooperation in facilitating this intensive career enhancement program,” said Khashoggi. Laufs said that everyone at Fraport in Frankfurt was impressed with the enthusiasm and high level of aptitude shown by this group of handpicked trainees. “They have achieved significant progress in a relatively short period of time and we look forward to seeing them put the results of their training into practice as KAAIA goes through the process of transformation into a world class airport.” The training and development program is a key part of the plans for the expansion of the airport, which are based on KAAIA's commitment to corporate, social and environmental responsibility for the benefit of all stakeholders including Saudi and other employees, and local and international passengers.
