Electricity and water officials in the Jouf Region may have their home water and power service cut so they get first-hand experience with residents' suffering when the services are interrupted. The warning came Tuesday from Prince Fahd Bin Badr, Emir of Jouf, in a meeting with the directors of the utilities. Prince Fahd urged Engineer Abdullah Al-Jasser, Director of the Jouf Electricity Department, and Engineer Abdullah Al-Ahmari, Director of the Jouf Water Department, to find a “radical solution” to repeated power and water cuts. If the problems continue, the directors may find that their homes do not have power or water, the Emir warned. “Power and water services are basic rights that the government has to deliver to the residents,” Prince Fahd said. Hot weather, which may add more pressure on power plants, does not justify repeated service interruptions for long periods of time, he added.
