Jamaican sprinter Asafa Powell has called an end to his season because of nagging injury problems, his agent said. The reigning world 100m bronze medallist and former world record holder had pulled out of recent meetings in Stockholm, London, Paris and Zurich. His agent Paul Doyle said that Powell “had many problems in his groin which had extended to his back and hamstrings”. Powell's announcement follows the decision by compatriot Usain Bolt, the world record holder and world and Olympic champion in the 100m and 200m, to end his season because of a tightness in his lower back.
