There is likely to be a reshuffle of senior officials at the Jeddah Mayoralty by the newly-appointed Mayor Dr. Hani Abu Ras, according to sources. Abu Ras is likely to make changes that include new assignments for deputies, assistant to the mayor, heads of service administrations, and heads of district municipalities. Abu Ras will start his new responsibilities as mayor of Jeddah at 10 A.M. Saturday by holding a meeting with his deputies and assistants on the plans and strategies laid out by former Jeddah mayor Adel Fakeih. Informed sources said the new mayor will ensure the continuation of previous plans and strategies, mainly the 10th Strategic Plan worked out by the mayoralty and endorsed by Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, Emir of Makkah. It is not expected that Abu Ras will face any significant problems in carrying out these plans because he was a member of the team which produced it. He was also involved in working on short- and long-term plans for the mayoralty, focusing on future infrastructure, investment and commercial projects. He is also not expected to face any difficulty in carrying out a plan for the eradication of dengue fever in Jeddah. He was previously tasked with this responsibility.
