Jimmy Rollins hit a three-run homer to help the Philadelphia Phillies beat San Francisco 8-2 and open a two-game lead on the Giants in the National League wild-card race. The two-time NL champions remained 2 1/2 games behind Atlanta in the East, with 43 to play. Philadelphia starter Joe Blanton (5-6) pitched 6 1/3 innings, allowing two runs and striking out seven. Rollins singled, tripled and homered off Matt Cain (9-10). Cain gave up five runs – two earned – in six innings. Giants starters are 0-9 with a 5.73 ERA in the past 14 games. Rockies 3, Dodgers 2, 10 innings: In Los Angeles, Colorado nailed a runner in a play at the plate for the final out of the game, edging Los Angeles in 10 innings. With two outs in the Dodgers 10th and Reed Johnson on first, Scott Podsednik blooped a single in front of center fielder Dexter Fowler. The ball skittered away but Fowler recovered quickly – throwing to shortstop Troy Tulowitzki, whose relay to catcher Miguel Olivo beat Johnson by several feet. The Rockies had gone ahead in the top of the 10th as Melvin Mora scored on one of three wild pitches by reliever Octavio Dotel (2-3). Dotel walked Mora, who stole second then advanced to third on a wild pitch to Fowler, who eventually walked. Mora scored as Dotel bounced another pitch past rookie catcher A.J. Ellis. He uncorked one more wild one. Colorado's Rafael Betancourt (3-1) got the win, striking out both batters he faced in the ninth. Huston Street got three outs for his ninth save. Braves 3, Nationals 2: In Atlanta, the home team did it again in its final at-bat, beating Washington on Jason Heyward's run-scoring single in the ninth inning. Brewers 3, Cardinals 2: In St. Louis, Randy Wolf pitched into the ninth inning to steer Milwaukee to a tight win over St. Louis. Padres 5, Cubs 1: In Chicago, Matt Stairs, taking advantage of a rare outfield start, hit a two-run double to help streaking San Diego down Chicago. Reds 11, Diamondbacks 7: In Phoenix, Cincinnati came from four runs down in the eighth to beat Arizona. Mets 3, Astros 2, 14 innings: In Houston, Jose Reyes matched a season high with four hits and scored on a sacrifice fly in the 14th inning to give New York victory over Houston. Marlins 3, Pirates 2: In Pittsburgh, Josh Johnson shook off a five-game winless streak and withstood two solo home runs over eight innings to steer Florida past Pittsburgh. The Pirates dropped their ninth in 10 games.
