US news magazine Newsweek has named King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, among the world's top ten most respected leaders for being a reformer who has taken the initiative to modernize school, appointed women in top government positions and invested in science and technology and nuclear power for civil purposes. Newsweek said that King Abdullah has proven to be a strong ally against extremism through his calls on Muslims to embrace the spirit of tolerance, moderation, and balance. The list also included other world leaders namely: British Prime Minister David Cameron, French President Nicolas Sarkozy, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao, Irish Prime Minister Brian Cowen, Brazilian President Lula da Silva, South Korean President Lee Myung-bak, Liberia's President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, and President of the Maldives Mohamed Nasheed. Newsweek is the second largest news weekly magazine in the US after the famous Time magazine.
