Funding for the UN's aid appeal for victims of Pakistan's devastating floods rose to more than $182 million, covering 40 percent of needs, latest data from the world body showed Tuesday. It marked a doubling of the amount received since Monday, when the United Nations had collected just 20 percent of the $460 million emergency relief appeal launched on August 11. A spokeswoman for the UN's Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs said earlier Tuesday that 35 percent of needs were covered, as the flow of cash from international donors accelerated. Aid agencies have warned of a huge gap between the amount of aid coming in and the needs on the ground, where more than 14 million Pakistanis have been affected by the record flooding. Some $277.6 million of funds are still needed, according to the OCHA's financial tracking service.
