The Civil Defense is investigating a fire that killed an 83-year-old woman in her Bawadi District home Saturday morning. Firefighters evacuated the five-floor building although the fire was concentrated in the victim's small apartment. The fire gutted the apartment before it was extinguished. Major Abdullah Al-Amri, Makkah's Civil Defense spokesman, said a committee has been formed to investigate the accident.
