For the sixth consecutive day raw sewage has been leaking into drinking water tanks at homes in Al-Aziziyah District despite the repeated complaints of residents to the National Water Company's Emergency Department. “The company did not do anything to solve this,” complained residents. On Sunday, the Director of the National Water Company, Abdullah Al-Assaf, formed an emergency committee to examine the matter and determine the harm caused. Residents of Al-Aziziyah District 9, located behind the Presidency of Girls' Education's building, told Okaz/Saudi Gazette that the problem started on the first day of Ramadan but that “the company has been ignoring it”. They said a sewage pipe broke and the sewage leaked into the neighborhood in large amounts, entering houses and contaminating drinking water tanks in their homes. They said they complained to the company several times and specifically asked them to intervene but they did not respond. They said the sewage water has also damaged their furniture and electronic devices. They fear the water will create an environment for disease-transmitting mosquitoes.
