He founded weekly newspapers in the eastern city of Constantine and in Algiers in 1963, according to his cultural association. He remained active in publishing, founding a magazine dedicated to short stories in 1996, among other things. In 1956 he joined the Civil Organization of the FLN (Front de Libération Nationale). After the war, he edited two periodicals in Tunisia and Algeria: Al-Jamahir (The masses) from 1962 to 1963 and Al-Ahrar (Free people) from 1972 to 1974. He also served as a civil servant of the FLN and general director of Algerian Radio. __
