A total of 60 exhibitors from Saudi Arabia and other Arab and Gulf countries sold more than 6,000 kg of honey to individual visitors and companies at the eight-day Baha Bee Festival recently. Dr. Ahmad Al-Khazim Al-Ghamdi, head of the organizing committee and Chairman of the Saudi Beekeeping Cooperative Association in Baha, said devices to examine the quality of honey were used for the first time. Some quantities of honey that were found not to be in conformity with Saudi standards were excluded and not allowed to be sold. Al-Ghamdi added that honey-buying visitors were given the honey examination service free of charge. Business deals and agreements involving Saudi and foreign companies were signed and the sales of some exhibitors at the festival amounted to SR50,000 over the eight days.
