As part of their social responsibility program, organizers of the 16-day Prince Muhammad Bin Fahd Sports Competition, which will kick off on Aug. 14 at the Green Sports Complex here, announced they will donate the money raised during the event to charitable organizations in the Eastern Province. The Ramadan sports competition, the biggest ever to be held in the region with over 40 teams representing companies and business organizations from the private sector, is organized by the Asharqia Chamber of Commerce and Industry in cooperation with the General Presidency of Youth Welfare. Abdulrahman Rashid Al-Rashid, president of Asharqia Chamber, announced during a press briefing here Monday that among the charitable organizations that will be direct beneficiaries of the event are the Society for the Deaf and Blind, the Deaf Club, Wedding Society for the Poor, and Mabrat Al-Ehsan in Al-Khobar. “We will also honor and recognize those citizens who have dedicated their lives to the development of sports in the region,” Al-Rashid said. Among those to be honored in the sport of football are the late Prince Abdulrahman Bin Saud, national coaches Muhammad Al-Kharashi and Abdulrahman Al-Daham, General Secretary of the Arab Olympic Committees Othman Al-Saad, the late TV sports commentator Khalil Al-Dahilan and international referee Khalil Jalal. To add more color and entertainment to the sports events, there will also be an exhibition of individual talent in various sports, acrobatic shows, impromptu shows of well-known actors from the Gulf region, and an exhibition of rare photographs of sports stars and personalities from the Arab World.
