The secretariat general of the Organization of the Islamic Countries (OIC) Saturday urged its member states to donate generously for the flood-affected people of Pakistan. Professor Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu, OIC chief, expressed his great concern over the flood situation in the northwestern region of Pakistan. The floods have destroyed villages and killed hundreds of people and displaced millions of others. Ihsanoglu called upon the OIC member states to join hands and help in the rescue and relief operations of the Pakistani government. Earlier this week, the Saudi government dispatched a number of cargo planes carrying relief material to Peshawar, which includes blankets, tents, food and other items of daily use. The relief materials were handed over to Asghar Ali, Director of Humanitarian Affairs in Khaibar Pakhtoonkhwah. The official assured that the aid will be delivered to the needy at the soonest.
