Zeeb Al-Qahtani rules Toyota Autocross Championship

Ghtani clocked the fastest time of the day 45.97 in CS category and made his presence felt in the first round of the Toyota Autocross Championship 2010 here.
This race was participated by 35 drivers, with each driver getting four races on the track.
Autocross is a branch of motor sport that involves driving a car anti-clockwise on a loose surface circuit. The competition took place on a temporary circuit.
The race was very close from the beginning in each category. There were three stock categories for cars which were not modified and four categories for cars which were modified. The race started at 9:00 P.M. and continued till 1:30 A.M.
The drivers reported on the track at 6:30 PM and after the technical inspections Amer Al-Nahdi, Race Director, briefed the participants.
This round attracted the highest number of newcomers in an event organized by Toyota Motorsports which runs these events on the format of Autocross racing based on rules and regulations derived from the pinnacle of motor racing rules.
The race saw Khaled Al-Zayed and Faisal Al-Shareef, going neck and neck. Al-Zayed managed to be second with 45:98 and Faisal Al-Shareef third (46:57). At the end, Zeeb Al-Qahtani won the competition, proving that he is the emerging talent in the Kingdom's motor racing circle.
Sponsored by Toyota as main sponsor along with Mobil 1 oil and Arab Motors Channel (media sponsor), the mood was so thrilling during the competition. The event drew a large number of enthusiasts Kingdomwide.
The prize distribution ceremony was held just soon after the race.
All the winners in seven different categories were honored.
“Sports events and competitions are important elements in the Kingdom's culture, therefore we are always ready to extend our support to all our athletic fields,” said motorsport developer Abdullah Bakhashab, the organizer of the race. __
