The UN has sanctioned two activist groups after a Saudi Arabian nameplate was vandalized at a recent climate change conference. Three members of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and Oxfam International have been banned or suspended from talks later this year after they took the Saudi plate at a June meeting, broke it in half, threw it in a toilet and distributed photographs of it. Christiana Figueres, the top UN climate official, also said WWF and Oxfam will be restricted to fewer representatives at the next round of talks. The WWF and Oxfam publicly apologized Monday, and Saudi delegation withdrew a demand that both organizations be banned from all meetings for five years. The two groups say the offenders have been suspended.
