Police in the Eastern Province have stepped up efforts against begging in Dammam, Al-Khobar and Dhahran. Over 430 beggars have been arrested in the last two months, said Ziyad Abdul Wahhab Al-Ruqaiti, spokesman for the Eastern Province police, Sunday. They have been handed over to the concerned government departments of Expatriates Administration and social offices. Al-Ruqaiti said the police detained begging women and children of different nationalities who were preparing to intensify their activities during the nights of Ramadan.
