Mit'ani, a 72-year-old resident of Al-Khassirah, a village in Al-Leeth Governorate, has appealed for help with his son, Zaher, who he said is suffering from mental health problems and threatening the lives of his wife and children. “I cannot tolerate any more of my son's behavior because I'm not financially capable of treating him or providing any help to him,” Al-Mit'ani said. “My apprehensions have increased one day after another because of continued threats by my sick son that he would hurt me and his family.” Al-Mit'ani said this has left him no choice but to call on authorities to arrest Zaher and admit him to a mental health hospital for treatment, and to provide his three sons with social services and education. He also said he needs electricity in his house because Zaher intimidated and threatened workers who tried to provide the service. He said Zaher did not suffer from any diseases during his childhood, but he suddenly developed mental health problems after he got married and had three children, becoming very disobedient to him and aggressive to his children and wife. Al-Mit'ani called for authorities to intervene to prevent his son from committing a crime or hurting his children. He said his son prevented his children from being inoculated or seeking treatment in the health-care center. Zaher has adamantly insisted that he will not look for a job to earn his living or seek the help of the General Organization for Social Insurance, his father said. At Mit'ani said he and his family have been living without electricity for several years, which has made their lives hellish.
