King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, chaired the Cabinet session held Monday at Al-Salam Palace, in which amendments to laws governing worker insurance and women's pension have been approved. One amendment stated that an organization shall pay for the preparation and transport of the body of the contributor who dies as a result of a work injury to his/her homeland, as well as the contributor who dies while receiving a work-injury benefit. It shall also pay for the costs of transporting the injured with permanent total disability who needs the help of others to his/her homeland in accordance with the details specified by the implementing regulations. Another amendment said a female contributor, with at least a subscription period of 120 days in the Social Insurance, shall receive her pension when she reaches the age of 55. The Cabinet approved also an amendment stating that if the contribution period of a worker reaches at least five years and he reaches the age of 60 without completing the qualifying period for entitlement to retirement pension, he may ask for adding a credit period to his contribution period provided that the added period shall not exceed five years. Following his four-nation tour to Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, and Jordan, the King thanked Arab leaders for appreciating the Kingdom's efforts and determination to promote Arab solidarity, develop united Arab stands that serve Islamic and Arab interests and causes; enhance Arab unity in the face of various challenges and to intensify international efforts to achieve tangible progress in the peace process that ensures the restoration of all Arab rights, especially the right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state on their national soil.
