Published in The Saudi Gazette on 03 - 08 - 2010

The call to adopt healthy nutrition practices was made by health and medical practitioners attending the 1st GCC Symposium on Clinical Nutrition held recently at the Arrayan Hospital in Riyadh.
The event, aimed at increasing awareness on the importance of following a healthy lifestyle and practicing proper nutritional habits, was organized by the Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib Medical Group and sponsored by Al Rabie Saudi Foods. Co. Ltd. Attending the symposium were clinical dieticians, health educators, pharmacists and nurses from different health and medical institutions in Riyadh and the rest of the Kingdom.
The event is the first in a series of scientific conferences and meetings organized by the Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib Medical Group that aims to open better communication ties between health specialists and practitioners in the country and to pave the way for more activities that are focused on discussing important health issues.
During the conference, participants centered their discussions on a threefold agenda; identify common chronic diseases in the Gulf region caused by insufficient nutrition; identify clinical nutrition methods to treat common diseases and to discuss and develop solutions for timely topics and issues in the field of clinical nutrition. Aside from the discussions, special lectures and workshops were given by invited specialists and lecturers.
Monther Bin Trad Al Harthi, CEO, Al Rabie, said: “This symposium marks a big leap in the continuing efforts to make people more aware of the need to live a healthy lifestyle and maintain properly balanced diets. Proper nutrition is the first line of defense against common diseases and can also help people suffering from heart disease, kidney disorders and diabetes regain the strength their bodies need. Al Rabie remains committed to providing support and assistance to endeavors such as the 1st GCC Symposium on Clinical Nutrition, which also falls in line with the government's efforts to promote health education across all sectors. Our continuing commitment to help increase awareness about the importance of maintaining healthy lifestyles and proper nutrition complements our company motto of ‘health for all.”
Participants at the symposium commended Al Rabie for its current line of healthy and high-quality products and recommended its consumption as part of a balanced healthy meal. The Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib Medical Group also presented Al Rabie with a trophy of appreciation for their support and sponsorship of the event.
