Teachers at a girls' school at Al-Amg Village Complex, 225 km south of Madina, have submitted a petition to the Ministry of Education in Riyadh to protest the conversion of a bathroom into an examination hall. In their petition, the teachers said this was done because of the slow pace of construction of the school building that began about five years ago. They also accused construction workers and masons of leaving work on the school to work on their own, for local residents. Teachers also complained about a lack of drinking water, which they said made some of them suffer from miscarriages, and said there is only one bathroom for more than 300 students. Several teachers, the complaint said, suffer from various illnesses due to the contaminated water and unhygienic conditions in the school. Informed sources said this is the third petition teachers have sent but no action has been taken so far to address their genuine grievances. – Okaz
