Since 2008, Lebanon has benefited from efforts for Arab reconciliation launched by King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, in an attempt to put an end to a very critical period in the Arab world. By virtue of King Abdullah's wisdom, much has been achieved in the area of inter-Arab reconciliation. Lebanon has been able to resolve many of its political problems peacefully, thus saving the country from the perils of another civil war. A consensus was reached on electing Michel Suleiman as an agreed upon president of Lebanon, and a national unity government was formed. Moreover, Saad Al-Hariri's visit to Syria, and meeting with president Bashar Al-Assad, constituted a breakthrough step and was one of the most important episodes of his entire political career. All these political developments have been closely watched and encouraged by the Kingdom allowing for a new era of friendly bilateral relations between Syria and Lebanon not experienced by the two countries in decades. As Lebanon and the Lebanese people await the final verdict of the UN-backed International Tribunal on the 2005 assassination of the former Lebanese statesman Rafiq Al-Hariri, the Lebanese people are again counting on King Abdullah's wisdom to quell a potential political upheaval over the special tribunal's ruling, and to allow for a continuation of stability and development which Lebanon has exceptionally enjoyed in the last few years. We all expect the warm relationship that has recently evolved between Lebanon and Syria, thanks in large part to the wise diplomacy of King Abdullah, to be an important factor in calming a potential political storm in Lebanon, and for the Lebanese people to overcome their fears for the future of their country. An additional Saudi effort this time is expected to enhance what has been achieved so far in internal Lebanese politics and in Lebanese-Syrian relations, and help deal with the current and coming situation with the maximum of reason and objectivity. King Abdullah's visits to Egypt, Syria, and Jordan come as part of his continuous diplomatic efforts to coordinate positions and to exchange viewpoints with Arab leaders, in an attempt to adopt a unified position against those who plant seeds of disunity and weaken Arab resolve vis-à-vis unresolved Arab issues of which the Arab-Israeli conflict is the most prominent. __
