Under the patronage of Prince Faisal Bin Khalid, Emir of Asir, the biggest youth gathering will kick off motorsport for amateurs in Asir region Wednesday as part of Abha Tourism Festival 2010. These activities are supported by the Emir of Asir and the Tourism Activation Commission in addition to the private sector cooperation from Abdul Latif Jameel Company Ltd., Mobil 1 and Arab Motors Channel, events media sponsor. The events will continue until Monday. About 20 modified cars will kick of motorsport at Aghrab Center in the middle of Abha city where they will be greeted by a large crowd of motor sport enthusiasts and fans. Also there will be allocation for rally champions such as Toyota Saudi Rally champion, Saleh Al-Saleh. All the rally cars will be in show with the new modifications and the orgnaizers hope to provide more information about motorsport to the public. On the first day, there will be lectures on safety driving methods. It will be supported by visual display and accidents photographic exhibition which led to cost the lives of thousands of people who were not abiding by the traffic rule. Then the participants willproceed to the Safety Driving Circuit for the field application under the supervision of trained specialists in the field of safe driving. These events would be taking place in Abha Festival for the first time. These activities are supposed to attract young people. The events include safety driving event for five days, modified cars competition, auto brutal race and karting race. There will be also the launch of the first round of Toyota Autocross Championship in Abha. The oganizers have selected Abha as the first location for the first round of this championship which is approved by the General Presidency for Youth Welfare and Saudi Arabian Motor Sports Federation.
