Majarda - Police stationed at a checkpoint at Al-Majarda shot at the tires of a vehicle as the driver attempted to cross the checkpoint unlawfully. After searching the van the police discovered a different cargo. The driver was attempting to smuggle 25 illegal immigrants into the Kingdom. The preliminary investigations show that the motorist had taken a SR1,000 from each of his passengers resulting in a total of SR25,000. Spokesman of Police in Asir, Colonel Abdullah Ayed Al-Enazi, said the illegal immigrants will be deported to their countries and the smuggler has been transported to the authorities concerned with interrogation. – Okaz __
