Emir of Madina Prince Abdul Aziz Bin Majed Bin Abdul Aziz has given the Madina Mayoralty a 15-day deadline to complete construction work on an underpass linking the intersection of King Abdul Aziz Road to Prince Abdul Majeed Street, known earlier as Al-Hezam Street. The Emir's decision was announced after an inspection tour Monday and a meeting with parties responsible for the delay in finishing the project that began in 2005. An official source at the Madina Mayoralty said that in 2004, the organization submitted a request to the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs to fund the project and indicated that SR25 million was provided, but the lowest bid was SR26.5 million, which led to the delay. Prince Abdul Aziz met with Mayor of Madina Engineer Abdul Aziz Al-Hussayyen; Engineer Muhammad Al-Ali, secretary general of Madina Development Commission; Maj. Gen. Awad Al-Sarhani, director of Madina Police; Col. Muhammad Al-Badrani, director of the Traffic Department in Madina and Muhammad Al-Harbi, deputy director of the contracting company in charge of the project.
