Responding to numerous calls from the public concerning suspicious activities, police launched a late night crackdown on 10 areas to the north-east of the Jeddah Highway targeting persons wanted for minor offenses and illegal residents, leading to 960 detentions. According to police, charges involved minor theft and car theft, the sale of alcohol, public morality offenses and working without visas or licenses. The campaign, which took place over the weekend, also targeted beggars and car washers. 32 people were arrested on criminal charges and the remainder were involved in breaches of labor law.
