C.J. Wilson pitched eight scoreless innings to lead Texas to a 1-0 win over Los Angeles Friday, stretching the Rangers' lead over the Angels in the American League West to seven games. Wilson (9-5) did not issue a walk, and retired 17 of his last 18 batters. Neftali Feliz got three outs for his 27th save and 18th in a row. For the second straight game, Michael Young's one-out solo homer in the first put Texas ahead, and from there pitching dominated. Los Angeles starter Joe Saunders (6-10) took the loss despite and impressive seven innings, allowing one run and one walk while striking out six. Yankees 7, Royals 1: In New York, A.J. Burnett bounced back from a start cut short by a self-inflicted injury to pitch five scoreless innings and guide New York to victory over Kansas City. Burnett (8-8) was starting six days after he cut both hands on a plastic lineup-card holder when he slammed open double doors in the clubhouse out of frustration during a game against Tampa Bay. He was helped by two double plays. Robinson Cano hit a three-run double for the Yankees in a game that was halted for 1 hour, 25 minutes with two outs in the bottom of the fifth inning, when a deluge of rain made visibility difficult. Royals starter Brian Bannister (7-9) gave up four runs in the first before settling over 4 2-3 innings. White Sox 5, Athletics 1: In Oakland, Mark Buehrle pitched strongly on the one-year anniversary of his perfect game, guiding Chicago over Oakland. Buehrle (9-8) was nearly flawless through six innings against Oakland before giving up a run in the seventh that ended a scoreless streak of 26 1-3 innings by White Sox starters. Buehrle pitched a perfect game against Tampa Bay last season. Chicago increased its lead in the AL Central to 2½ games over Detroit. Oakland starter Trevor Cahill (9-4) allowed three runs over seven innings. Indians 3, Rays 1, 7 innings: In Cleveland, Fausto Carmona allowed one hit in five dominant innings as Cleveland extended its home winning streak over Tampa Bay to 18 straight in a game called off in the bottom of the seventh. The Rays haven't won in Cleveland since 2005 – the longest current losing streak in the majors. Rays starter Jeff Niemann (8-3) allowed two runs in five innings of a game that lasted just 2:06 with 2:44 in stoppages. Red Sox 2, Mariners 1: In Seattle, Josh Beckett was in command in his return from two months on the disabled list, helping Boston edge Seattle. Orioles 3, Twins 2: In Baltimore, Jeremy Guthrie allowed two runs over seven innings to earn his first win in two months and steer Baltimore to a tight win over Minnesota.
