The Primary Health Care Administration for Preventive Medicine in Jeddah has assigned one of its staff nurses in Rabigh to run the health center there – despite the fact that the action violates directives issued by the Ministry of Health. The Ministry of Health banned assigning administrative tasks to technicians because there is an acute shortage in technical staff at a time when some of them are in jobs irrelevant to their specializations. The decision, which was ordered to be implemented in letter and spirit, returned technicians to their previous jobs. The Ministry of Health also ordered the relevant authorities to provide the names of these technicians and said it will assign a field committee to ensure the implementation of this decision and punish the violators. A decision was made some time ago to order the nursing technician's return to his original job, but the Jeddah Directorate of Health Affairs issued another decision assigning him to work as the center's director.
