Mark Teixeira and Robinson Cano supplied the early runs as the New York Yankees beat the Los Angeles Angels 10-6 in the American League Wednesday. Teixeira doubled twice and drove in three runs, and Cano hit a two-run shot as New York ended a seven-game winning streak by Angels pitcher Joel Pineiro. Pineiro (10-7) was 7-0 with a 2.51 ERA in his previous eight starts, but 10 of his first 21 batters got hits as the Yankees built a 6-0 lead. Tigers 4, Rangers 1: In Detroit, Max Scherzer threw seven scoreless innings to guide Detroit to a win over Texas that snapped a seven-game losing skid. Scherzer (7-7) threw a career-high 123 pitches. Gerald Laird hit a two-run homer for the Tigers. Colby Lewis (9-6) allowed four runs over seven innings for the AL West-leading Rangers, who lost their first game in four. Indians starter Jake Westbrook (6-6) allowed four runs in six innings, walking five and striking out only one. Royals 5, Blue Jays 2: In Kansas City, Zack Greinke won for the fifth time in six decisions as Kansas City downed Toronto. Greinke (6-9), the reigning AL Cy Young Award winner, allowed two runs in eight innings, striking out nine without a walk. He improved to 5-1 with a 2.89 ERA in his past seven starts, a stretch that includes 47 strikeouts and just eight walks. Greinke yielded three singles for a run in the seventh, but pitched out of further trouble by getting Edwin Encarnacion to ground into an inning-ending double play.
