Police in Jeddah have completed their investigations into last Thursday's murder of a retired policeman and passed the case on to prosecution authorities. The General Bureau of Investigation and Prosecution will now complete details of the inquiry to prepare their case for court. The alleged killer, who is of Arab nationality, confessed to the murder during questioning, saying the incident was provoked by a dispute with his victim. He said that his victim had invited him into his house in the Al-Rabwa district and that “self-defense” led to the stabbing. The accused told investigators that he attempted to dispose of the murder weapon in the bathroom before leaving the crime scene. Police said that the victim had had his throat slit and been stabbed 26 times. The murder weapon, a small knife, was found by investigators lying in a bidet, with a single hair found in one of the deceased's hands and fingerprints recovered from the scene leading to the suspect's arrest two days later.
