The Disabled Children Society will construct a comprehensive rehabilitation center in Asir to accommodate 150 special-needs children. Emir of Asir Prince Faisal Bin Khaled Bin Abdul Aziz, has lauded the initiative and highlighted the government's attention to children with special needs. He said the center will provide integrated services for newborns to 12-year-olds. Plans to construct the center reflect the collective efforts of philanthropists and the government to create social institutions to care for disabled children, said Chairman of the Disabled Children Society Prince Sultan Bin Salman Bin Abdul Aziz. He said the center will provide therapeutic, educational and rehabilitative services; consultative services to disabled people in the region; and direct and indirect support. He said the center, designed to accommodate 150 disabled children, will gradually reach that number in five years after it opens. Prince Sultan said the center will consist of a medical section that includes specialist clinics; a physiotherapy clinic; an occupational therapeutic and speech clinic; a social services section; a dental clinic; a medical workshop; and a medical swimming pool. He said the second section of the center will house educational classes, a psychiatric clinic and administrative offices.
