smoking and drugs society “Kafa” has said that its summer campaign has led to 1,300 people “completely giving up smoking”. Kafa chief executive Abdullah Sarouji said that the figure was achieved through the society's permanent and mobile clinics after the smokers had gone through the Kafa awareness program on the dangers of tobacco and drug use held alongside the society's 2010 summer activities. “The program has led to large numbers giving up,” Sarouji said, “and the women's department has so far registered 20 women abandoning smoking for good.” Sarouji added that the Kafa mobile clinics, which have paid numerous visits to private and public sector premises to spread the message, including 17 trips made to government and military bodies, have led to 600 persons giving up smoking.
