King Saud University has advanced 35 positions to rank 164th among the world's universities, and is the top university in the Arab and Islamic World, Middle East and Africa, according to the International Spanish Webometrics Classification issued in January this year. King Saud University said it also made a quantum leap among Asian universities, moving from 18th to eighth, it said in a statement. The improvement in the global ranking confirms the school's standing, said the statement, which stressed that it is uncommon for universities to move up this much in a short period of time. KSU is also the first Arab university to attain an advanced position among 500 international universities in the Shanghai Classification, which is among the most reputable and strongest. In the famous England-based Times Higher World University Rankings, KSU was ranked 247th internationally and first in Arab and Islamic countries. King Fahd University for Petroleum and Minerals has also been included in the best international universities, ranked 178th internationally, an advancement of 226 positions.
