Joint work between Riyadh Police and police in the Eastern Province has led to the arrest of a four-strong gang believed to be responsible for 22 house burglaries in the capital. Police said they designated a special unit to the case in which gold, jewelry and other property was stolen, and that a breakthrough was made when two persons were held in Al-Ahsa for attempting to sell stolen materials. The items were traced back to thefts in the capital and during questioning the identities of two other accomplices were revealed. Police said that the gang purposely sold what they stole as far away as possible from the scene of their crimes, but that close collaboration with counterparts in the Eastern Province enabled the connection to be made. “The suspects also used cars hired under false names when committing the burglaries,” police said.
