Two boys reportedly dead in a fire that broke out Monday in their flat in Al-Shishah District in Makkah and two of their brothers and their mother were injured. Reports suggest that the boys died of suffocation while they were asleep. The fire broke out in a room adjacent to the flat's only entrance and trapped the mother and her children. The boys' father was at his work at the time of the incident. Five firefighting teams rushed to the scene, evacuated the flat on the top story of the building, confined the fire to one room and took the injured people to King Faisal Hospital in Makkah, said Col. Ali Al-Muntashiri, spokesman of the Civil Defense in Makkah. The Civil Defense team has opened an investigation to identify the cause of the fire, he said, adding that preliminary investigations show that it was accidental.
