Thirty dressmaking shops were permanently closed and 170 were temporarily closed after the women's wing in Riyadh Mayoralty carried out over 9,000 inspection tours. Dr. Laila Al-Hilali, supervisor of the women's wing, said 72 percent of the mistakes and violations in the region's dressmaking shops were rectified; a number of hair dyes, creams, herbs and aphrodisiacs were seized and destroyed and 3,000 expired items were seized from one shop and destroyed. Dr. Al-Hilali said the women's wing would intensify its health campaigns during the holy month of Ramadan to ensure that people working with food have health certificates and that shops and hairdressing salons do not sell equipment or products with false claims of medical benefits. Health supervision will be strictly implemented to upgrade the quality of the services provided, prevent health violations and ensure that no unidentified mixtures, meant to be consumed or used as externally, are in the shops, she said. Dr. Al-Hilali said her office receives reports from women about their observations in shops or negligence in municipal services such as cleaning, environmental health and other services.
