Technology experts have proposed the removal of sewage reservoirs that from time to time overflow causing unhygienic conditions in Saudi cities. A group of 70 national and international experts who participated in the seminar on Modern Technology in Water Pumps and Sanitation which concluded in Riyadh Sunday emphasized the importance of introducing the latest application of advanced technologies in the sanitation field. The participants cited the recurring disastrous unhygienic situation caused by the overflowing of sewage reservoirs in Jeddah. “The city of Jeddah is in urgent need of the implementation of modern technologies in water projects and sanitation,” said one expert. The participants reviewed a range of solutions and technologies for the treatment and purification of water, and methods of eliminating sewage reservoirs. Representatives of the Ministry of Water and Electricity, National Water Company and the Public Institution for Water Desalination, in addition to experts and engineers specializing in the infrastructure industry, and a group of senior consultants, contractors, and specialists attended the seminar. David Angelo, vice president and general manager, and Clifton Ray Spacek, Director of Sales and Marketing of US-based Fairbanks Morse, in a presentation underscored a wide range of important issues focusing on the latest developments and technologies in the area. Abdul Aziz Daghestani, Sales Manager Fairbanks Morse Saudi Arabia, said the aim of the seminars in Riyadh and Dammam was to create a platform for regional and international experts and specialists and to exchange views and experience on issues related to the sanitation sector. The seminar focused on the impact of modern technology on underground infrastructure projects and drainage systems, drilling equipment, sewage pipes and cooling systems, and new construction, facilities and communications infrastructure. “We must utilize the new and advanced technologies in Saudi projects,” he said.
