The Directorate General of Water in Al-Qassim region has provided Buraidah mosques with 19,000 devices to reduce water use in water closets after a study conducted by the organization showed that there was excessive water use in mosques and some government offices. According to Ibrahim Al-Ruqaibah, director general of the Directorate of Water, the organization aims to reduce water consumption in Buraidah mosques to 1.25 cubic meters per day after consumption reached 1.8 cubic meters per day prior to fitting the devices. The official added that the quantity of water available for the utilities is estimated at 45 tanker trucks per day, which is equivalent to the needs of a residential district of 350 housing units. Al-Ruqaibah pointed out that this is based on the Directorate of Water's responsibility to activate a national campaign to reduce water consumption, which is under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, with follow-up and support from the Minister of Water and Electricity.
